Squeeze Roll Applicator (SRA)

The SRA applies vinyl films, application tape, or adhesives from rolls, with standard liner rewinding and options for processing various materials. It includes unwind, drive rollers, rewind, slip sheet unwind, optional slitter and infeed/outfeed tables. Key functions include:        

• Unwinding and Tension Control: The unwind brake, adjusted via an “Unwind Pressure” regulator, controls film web tension to prevent stretching and curling of finished sheets. Tension is optimized when the film and liner separate at the lowest point on the idler roller, with pressure reduced as roll diameter decreases. A slip sheet unwind feeds liner paper under processed material to protect the drive roller, with tension adjusted by a knurled knob, decreased as roll diameter reduces.
• Material Advancement: Drive rollers form a nip point and advance material, with pressure set by a “Nip Roller Pressure” regulator. Advancement is controlled by a forward/reverse switch, a foot switch applying power to the drive motor, and a “Nip Speed” dial adjusting roller speed in both directions.
•  Liner Rewinding: The rewind clutch, adjusted via a “Rewind Pressure” regulator, controls liner paper tension between the rewind and drive roller. Pressure is increased as roll diameter grows to reduce clutch slip.
• Slitting (Optional): An optional non-driven razor slitter near the film unwind station cuts partial widths from film rolls, with slit depth controlled by blade protrusion.
• Material Handling: Infeed tables (one with a roller conveyor, one standard) are attached via toggle clamps, and a five-foot roller conveyor outfeed table extends from the machine to support material flow.
