Rotary Sheeter:

Rotary Sheeter

The system cuts material using a servo-driven nip-set and a variable frequency drive (VFD) actuated rotary crosscut blade. Key functions include:

  • Material Advancement and Holding: The nip-set, consisting of a fixed, driven lower roller and an air-cylinder-suspended upper idler roller, advances and holds incoming material. Adjustable air cylinders allow setting the nip gap to prevent stalling on thick material.
  • Cutting: The rotary crosscut blade, mounted on a carriage driven by a timing belt, moves linearly back and forth. A second fixed timing belt rotates the blade only during carriage motion. The blade cuts material supported by two adjustable angles with slotted mounting holes for precise gap setting.
  • Control and Safety: A PLC controls the sheeter via an HMI, supporting automatic or manual operation. Pneumatic controls adjust nip cylinder pressure, and a selector switch opens or closes the nips. Opening either guard stops the machine immediately; both guards must be closed and a safety reset button pressed to resume operation.
