Dual Unwind Servo Sheeter

The system unwinds, cuts, stacks and conveys material rolls for further manufacturing. Key functions include:

  • Unwinding: Two side-shifting unwinds with driven airshafts and safety chucks secure and rotate material rolls using compressed air (90 psi). The airshafts, fitted into safety chucks, work with the sheeter’s nip set to feed material, controlled by a sensor monitoring the accumulator’s moving roller.
  • Accumulating: Accumulators store material for consistent supply during increments, moving vertically and controlled via an HMI with position sensors. These     ensure the unwind feeds material at an average rate, maintaining readiness for sheeting.
  • Sheeting: The sheeter increments and cuts material. Material passes over idler rollers into a nip set, driven by a servo motor with an encoder for precise control of increment length, speed and acceleration. A pneumatically actuated top roller ensures torque transfer. A dancer maintains web tension by moving along an arc, storing extra material. After incrementing, a pneumatic clamp secures the web, and a cutter (driven by a belt, gearbox, and posidyne) severs it with a single     crankshaft revolution, moving the upper blade past the lower blade.
  • Stacking and Conveying: The cut material is stacked and temporarily stored on a conveyor assembly before being unloaded for the next manufacturing process.
