Servo Sheeter

A servo sheeter is an automated machine designed to cut large rolls of paper, film, or other materials into precise sheets. The process begins with a roll of material loaded onto a shaftless or shafted unwinding stand, where a servo-driven system ensures smooth and controlled feeding. The material passes through a web guide to maintain alignment, eliminating edge irregularities. A servo-controlled rotary or scissor-style cutting mechanism, typically featuring a stationary lower blade and a dynamic upper blade, slices the material into sheets of predetermined length with high accuracy (±0.015 inches). The servo motor, paired with a programmable logic controller (PLC), allows precise adjustments to cutting length and speed, often reaching up to 300 cuts per minute. An increment system, using neoprene rollers and pneumatic nip rollers, ensures slip-free material handling.

Cutting: Standard down-acting scissor shear cutting system with heavy duty blades with air biased. Cut speeds less than .4 seconds.

Drive System: Allen Bradley Kinetix Servo Drive, Direct drive roller to eliminate backlash. Neoprene nip and drive roller with air nips, and mechanical height adjustment. Encoder built into servo motor.

Control: Allen Bradley Micrologix, Panelview component touch screen. Automatic digital length, counter, automatic batch counter, single sheet, manual cut, power switch, safety reset, and recipes, Ethernet standard for remote access, E – stops.

Power: 220 Volt, 3 Phase, 60 Hertz, 10 Amps or special order.

Cut length tolerance on stable material +/- 1/64" for 36" long sheet.
