Custom Rotary Sheeter

The system unwinds, cuts, conveys, and stacks material rolls for further production. Key functions include:

  • Unwinding: Four unwind stands (two short, two tall) with side-shift functionality and driven airshafts feed material. A dancer assembly adjusts unwind speed to match the constant increment speed, allowing continuous operation. Operators can enable/disable specific unwinds via the HMI, with only one unwind needed     to run.
  • Material Transfer: Dual conveyor decks move unwound material to a web guide steering module, which routes webs from the unwinds (one or two under top idler rollers, three or four under bottom rollers) into the rotary cutter module. Belt tension is adjustable.
  • Sheeting: The rotary cutter module feeds material through an adjustable bowed roller and a manual clamp (used for threading) into an increment nip set. The nip set pushes the web past the cutter, which activates to cut sheets to the desired length.
  • Flipping: The flipper conveyor uses grippers to grab the leading edge of the cut sheet, rotates it upside down with air cylinders, and releases it to continue to the     stacker.
  • Braking and Stacking: The brake conveyor slows the trailing edge of sheets using vacuum belts running slower than the main conveyor, gently placing sheets onto the stack. Blower nozzles aid smooth transitions. The lift table automatically lowers during stacking to manage stack height and supports manual     loading/unloading with a powered cart that moves and adjusts vertically.
  • Controls: Three HMIs at the unwinds, sheeter, and stacker control their respective areas, each with an emergency stop and guard reset. The main electrical panel houses the emergency stop reset.
